We are going for an Indian tonight and the kids want to try something new, they usually have a korma. What would be the next one to try - the menu is not very helpful, it says things like 'served in a mystifying luminescent sauce'.

Passanda is usually quite mild and comes with various different meats - was what my kids graduated up to from a korma.
tandoori?
A Masala is a creamy sauce and often not spicy, little more spicy than a Korma which is also a creamy sauce.

A decent curry house should be able to suggest a mild curry, and can usually make a curry as mild or as spicy as you want.
It also depends on what part of India is represented. Although most restaurants have developed dishes for England etc. Why not order a korma and another type/types and get them to share to see what they like.
I usually go for a Passanda, it is full of flavour but mild.
I've always found Bhuna quite mild, very tomato based but an intense flavour.

They should be able to advise and maybe even tailor dishes to make them milder.

They tried one portion of Marsala (recommended by the waiter) as well as their usual - wasn't a great hit though.
Oh dear, well they will only know what they like by trying I guess.

Even if the dishes are cooked there are ingredients they could base and cool sauces down with, if spices are already in, like tomato, coconut milk etc... depending on the curry. Or sweeten it a bit if they like Korma. Depends how accommodating the restaurant are though.
