paprika is ok to put in a chille, however its usually used more for goulash, and while it'll give a nice coulour, it dosent have much flavour so dosent add all that miuch
try using fresh chillies or dried chilli flakes ................but be careful they can burn you twice ............!
Put in a teaspoon of ground cumin as well.
I always use cayenne pepper and fresh chilles not chillie powder. For colour use tomato puree. And as (I think) beerbelly implies always wash your hands before going to the toilet because a chillie willie is not fun.
You could also try adding just a touch of cinnamon, a tsp of red wine vineger and a little bit of chocolate! Thats how the mexicans make it. Totally scrummy!
I always use a big spoonful of paprika because it adds richness and sweetens the sharpness of the chilli.  But that's the beauty of chilli - everyone has their own recipe!
Plenty of ground cumin - and a good dash of Worcestershire sauce!

I always add a spoon of sugar too.  I read once that you could use tomato ketchup instead of tom puree as it already had sugar in it.

balubajube - do you use cooking choccy or eating choccy (eg Cadbury's)?

I always put a bit of cocoa in, drinking chocolate does too.
I make mine with a mug of strong coffee and some chinese five spice powder and dried chillies. Sounds wierd but it is amazing. Seriously you should try it!!
