Using Syrup When Baking A Sponge Cake
6 Answers
I have been making cakes for donkey's years and have never spread syrup to keep them moist. However, according to my know it all daughter I should, as that way the cake will remain moist. Have any of you done this before ?

we like baking cakes at home and sometimes with not too good results but we've found that adding some milk to the cake batter seems to help keep it moist and we've also tried cake with natural yoghurt in it and no you can't tell it's there bu again you get a moist cake.
The only time i use golden syrup is when i make pineapple upside down cake but you get the treacle topping when you turn it out but i also add some of the tinned natural pineapple juice into the cake batter which helps with flavour and moisture.
