why is it that when you chew toffee that  you dont swallow any and none breaks off that it gets smaller and disappears

the saliva in your mouth breaking it down into liquid form?
It�s probably made up mostly of sugar, which disintegrates in water or in this case the saliva in your mouth. Think about when a spoon of sugar is put in a cup of tea, it all melts away and mixes in with the tea, the same thing happens in your mouth.
