No, just fried the oxtail 10 mins then popped in oven with wine and brandy for 2.5 hrs. Then added fried bacon, carrot, turnip and button onions with crushed garlic and put back in oven for 1hr.
Mum didn't do all that. I don't remember her frying it. I think it just went in a saucepan with lots of veg, with cornflour added towards the end. It was always very gelatinous! Certainly no brandy and wine.
