...what's on the menu tomorrow?
I'm giving the slow cooker a rest as we're having people round for dinner. I've made a chilli today so it can absorb all the flavours ready for tomorrow evening. They're philistines though and don't like wine or cocktails....can you believe it?

They don't like wine or cocktails?

I can understand why you only called them 'people', rather than 'friends' then!

I know Chris, unbelievable isn't it? Friends? Pah!!
I like an American lager with chilli though.

Not sure what we are having tomorrow as we are travelling to Islay so it will be whatever we can get in the restaurant at Inverary.
I've got nothing planned for the weekend but I'm picking up a friend from Stansted on Monday and, when we get back, she's offered to buy me a meal here:

(It's got cracking reviews on TripAdvisor)

Then on her birthday (Wednesday) we're going here:

It's a real ale pub with a Thai restaurant upstairs - the best of both worlds!
Sea bass cooked with lemon and fennel trimmings. Roasted fennel, pepper, red onion. Some sort of herb oil and something yet to be decided.
Got a friend staying so meeting cousin for a light lunch at the Wolseley followed by a few drinks in a pub somewhere then homemade curry, tadka dal and mango chutney with pilau rice (and then more drinks)
Snap, I made chilli yesterday for today.

How can anyone not like wine???

Indeed NoM, I'm at a loss :(
What are you having with your chilli? Along with rice, I've got some fancy breads, tortillas and a trio of tex mex dips from Costco, and a huge bowl of homemead pineapple salsa.
Also some chicken nuggets and oven fries...don't ask!
Mmmm, pineapple salsa sounds a tasty accompaniment!

It is Eccles, I'm sure you can get the recipe on line. I made double the quantity this time as I just eat it with a spoon, you really ought to give it a go.
I tend not to have rice myself but usually have some guacamole, creme fraiche and Doritos with it.
