A friend told me she was having this yesterday and that made me think who the hell invented these weird combinations? Obviously some rich toff with much on their hands but the real question is why commoners blindly follow them and exclaim, wow this is great! And fish eggs ( caviar ) as well, do people know how this is produced? Who said “ yeah, I’m going to squeeze a rare fish and eat it’s babies on crackers?” Against some weird toff, no doubt.

I'm no expert as to cheese and wine pairings, but I love both together. Yesterday my granddaughter took my cheese board out of the cupboard and asked what it was. That led to me telling her how when her mum & uncle were small like her, I used to buy a little selection of cheeses for them to taste. She has a whole lot of cheese ....... and wine as she gets older to discover!!
I love cheese and fruit. Some cheeses are quite strong and the sweetness of the fruit balances out the flavours.

Oysters are suppose to be chewed...not just swallowed.

I was watching a programme yesterday where they were eating snail caviar. Now that's a step too far.
Someone recently put me onto a De'Portelli tawny port that comes in a 5 litre cardboard box Zacs, cheap as!!

Quite enjoyed it.

Eww snail caviar, you could probably pair that with snail porridge. I think that was hestons idea.
My accountant used to bring me cases of what he called peasants wine back from France. The bottles didn't even have labels. It was lovely wine.
It looked disgusting as well.
Lucky you ummmm! :0)
Who are the commoners?
Anyone that’s not a ‘toff’ I would imagine Naomi.
So who are the toffs?
I know Eleena. I got a case of both red and white every xmas.
Should Ed be asked to run an AB toff survey?
You’d have to ask Julie that, Naomi.
Wow, bet that was appreciated ummmm!

Reminds me of the old beano or dandy comics, toffs vs commoners I think it was called, over the top and hilarious.

That would be a good poll 1ozzy, Who classes themselves as riffs/commoners and what do your friends/family think you are.
Well Jahulaye, what questions do you think should be asked to weed out the toffs from the commoners?
Isn’t this one of them?
Nah Zacs, it's too vague.

Need to get into the nitty gritty ;-)
I don't like sweet and savoury things together. One taste or the other for me. (Not that much for sweet, to be honest)

So if I have cheese and biscuits, I never have grapes, or apple, or chutney.
In sure we will, given time 1ozzy.
