Errr - never again - Fresh Hake - looked lovely from fishmongers - layers and layers - fried it and found it utterly tasteless. Threw it out.

It would be a few years since I bought fresh fish and it probably will be another few years - may stick to chippie.

However what fish do you find tasty, tasty, they're very tasty. No not cornflakes. LOL

Plus - tho fishmonger had allegedly taken the bones out of it - I had to get pliers and pull more bones.

Terrified of bones as I got one stuck in my throat the same time as Queen mother. Awful
Why was the Queen Mother in your throat?
They never promise to have removed all bones.

I do agree with Marie about halibut, such a shame I rarely see down here.
I have homemade beer battered cod for dinner. I like most fish. In my freezer I have salmon, sea bass, sea bream, tuna steaks. haddock and various types of seafood..scallops, prawns, squid.

How did you fry your hake?
^^^ Mazie.

Murray - the whole point of buying the fresh fish is to taste fresh fish. LOL
Halibut would be my first choice - preferably marinated in thai curry paste and then very slowly cooked in coconut milk. It would work with hake too.
Then it would just taste of peppercorn sauce!
Can't beat a bit of skate wing fried in butter with some capers tossed in at the end lovely lovely very very lovey
Question Author
