Anyone got an ingenious method of labelling batch cooks in the freezer? Sticky labels wear off, use a sharpie and then you're left with the label forever! Would love to hear any tips people have got.

I write directly on the box lid with a permanent marker, the ink wipes off with nail varnish remover when I want to use it for something different. Things in bags I use permanent marker or double bag with a paper label sandwiched between the layers. You can also cling film a paper label to the outside of a box
As Rowan says directly on the box
Same here.

Ooh great, didn't think of nail varnish remover! Thanks rowanwitch!
....however, some plastics don't get on with acetone/amyl acetate....they dissolve. Polythene should be OK, but be careful with other plastics. (I always use alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) to remove marker/stickers etc...much safer).
Just rinse it straight away, but most freezer boxes are ok. Not everyone has isopropyl alcohol to hand. Most women have NV remover in the house.
And some men.
Anything I freeze in boxes I then decant into plastic bags to save space and just write with indelible marker on the bag. I also recycle the bags and just cross out the previous contents. Idiot-proof!
Yes, I write in the boxes too. I use takeaway type ones bought in bulk from Costco. I've found the permanent marker washes off easily if you use one of those non scratch scouters.
'scourers' not scouters, doh!
I use boxes and bags. I couldn't be bothered to reuse a freezer bag though.

Thanks everyone. Sorry though diddlydo, I just couldn't cope with crossings out - my OCD tendencies won't allow it!
