How would you describe the taste of the above wines, generally?
I know they vary, generalisation isn't necessarily the best way, and I enjoy all three types, but someone I was talking to thinks they taste differently to how I taste them.

Fair enough Denton, I did ask ;)
I find that they taste differently to everyone
I love pinot grigio but hate S Blanc
Question Author
What is it about Sauvignon blanc you dislike Islay? I love the gooseberry taste which many have, himself hates it.
How it feels on my teeth!
Sorry I know it sounds weird
I can't drink white wines, so I am useless to you Eth - sorry.
They're all quite variable varietals, depending which region they're from.

Pinot Grigio is the same varietal as Pinot Gris, but regions producing Pinot Gris make far more flavoursome wines than the regions that produce Pinot Grigio.

No it doesn't, I know what you mean :)
We're trying to find a white wine that he enjoys, muscadet which we used to drink gallons of in France, is the only one he seems to enjoy.
I think he should stick to whiskey..
Question Author
Mamy, you really are useless aren't you?? ;)

That's why I said about generalisation NoM, I realise that.
I also enjoy a Riesling which of course is German
Lidl do a lovely Argentine Torrontés and Aldi do a tasty Marsanne as part of their Exquisite Collection.
Hubby found a whisky beer when we were in Brugge bet your hubby would love that
Muscadets taste 'pippy' as if you've accidentally chewed a grape pip. Pinot Grigio is fairly bland and easily gluggable. S Blance tends to be quite lemony and sharp, and is my favourite wine.
I'm a lost cause.
I realise that nowadays one can be Suspended or even Banned from AB for uttering anything that is deemed by a Moderator as being rude. Consequently I am taking a chance by saying that White wine is for wimps. :-) Incidentally, I am Not politically a red.

Hans.
Mine too Cloverjo. But I love a Verdejo too
Depends on who is on the thread Hans!
I also love a chilled Italian red mmm
You mention the three types - have you tried the 'middle ground' - Chardonnay or Semillon Chardonnay?
I am very funny about wines. I find if I try white wine like S. Blanc at home I definitely don't like it but my daughter gave me a glass at her house and I loved it before I knew what it was. I think a lot depends on the context in which you are drinking it. At my daughter's is was in her beautiful on a warm spring day and the ambience was relaxing. Maybe that improved that taste, I don't know.
