Are they like a fishy equivalent of meat sausages, full of all the bits that aren't fit for anything else?

I took it that since you addressed your post to me, you were referring to my previous post when I put:

"Not in the least, they are very tasty, once they were called Crab Sticks".

Your answer:

"AOG, Crab sticks are a different product".

No mention of fish fingers there.
AOG, as usual you taking an opportunity to be confrontational.Look back to my previous posts.
Well if there's nowt dodgy in them, I may go back to eating them. They are yummy covered in mayo!!
danny...you've already said that fish sticks is the American term for fish fingers. Carry on through the thread and see that is NOT what sandy Roe was asking about.
Ginge, I realise that now.I obviously got the different fish sticks confused.
....and the fact that he asked if anybody had tried them would indicate to most people that he wasn't on about fish fingers.
Ginge, I think that you have made your point.
I think one needs to clarify what is meant by "fish sticks" before folk can answer.
Either way they're ok.
I like Haddock goujons but they are a totally different thing, I think.
Fish sticks/crab sticks call them what you like but they're pointless and tasteless.
They aren't tasteless.
I've got crabs:-)
Trust you :-)
I used to love them but have vague memories that they were made of crap and got bad press and stopped eating them, in fact don't recall seeing them for ages. And to confirm we are talking fishsticks/crabsticks, the pink and white things you ate cold- completely different to fish fingers (or gougons).
I still buy them now and then from Tesco.

They are also served in Chinese crab and sweetcorn soup.
Most are made from a fish called Tempura which the Japaneses use to make fish paste. It is totally tasteless so needs colouring and flavouring.
Never had crab or a crab stick, my mom used to like them though.
Tony, try it, crab is lovely.
Can't bring myself to try it. The only fish that I ever have is from the chippy.
