My Kenwood hand held food mixer has broken, it was a wedding present in 1975. Could this be a record?? What have you had for a long time and is still working. Nothing rude thank you.

Only this weekend we were talking about decorating the dining room after our holidays and before Christmas. "Do you want a new carpet?" asked Mr BD. "No, quite happy with what we've got" I replied. Once we thought about it the carpet was laid in 1964 by Mr BD's mum and dad and is still in good condition and the colour goes with everything.
Cutlery and carving fork and platter from 1974. My Mum's scissors from approx mid 1930's. actually I have got more of her sewing kit that is older than that or as old.

Unlikely. I think quite a few couples had wedding presents in 1975.

Not sure if this would qualify, but I have a set of Stanley wood chisels bought for me on my 21st birthday - I've just celebrated my 71st birthday !!

My mum and dad got a mirror for a wedding present in 1935; that still works.
A Moulinex electirc can opener. Got it as a wedding present in 1974. Still working. The can opener, that is!
A Singer treadle sewing machine that my grandmother was given on her wedding in 1917
Cutlery my parents got when they married...in 1932.
Still use my ironing board I was given as a wedding present by workmates in 1964.

Ha ha , some great answers :) Just go's to show what rubbish the manufactures turn out now, and why the recycling sites are brimming over week after week.
