Is Beaujolais Nouveau Old Hat?

Can't remember the last time I heard it mentioned. Always used to be a big thing with the supermarkets promoting it. Many yonks ago we had a super new beajolais from Tesco's and bought a couple of cases of it. Had a e a very pretty label - white with pink flowers. Ring a bell, anybody?

's food thrI'm reminded of this because I mentioned on a "what's cooking?" thread yesterday that my Saturday lunch would be a ham sandwich and a a domaine Beaujolais (a Julienas). I should have added that I would also be listening to my favourite Abba song: "Gamay, gamay, gamay un vin after midnight".

v-e; Interesting & pleased that you can get Comté - & from Tesco too! Tomorrow, like the German officers, we'll be crossing the Rhine (parlee voo) for 2 or 3 days & will bring some cheeses & wines back along with other goodies, including a large portion of [i] pâté en croûte [i] which is the nearest thing I can get to my beloved & missed British Melton Mobray pork pies; all of which would go down well with your reds. :0)
