Whilst the memsahib is away I shall indulge myself with a simple dinner this evening ,for a change ,involving chips. Chips are frowned upon here :-(
I usually do saute pots or wedges in my Air fryer with added garlic powder and smoked paprika.
I intend, as always, to put the peeled and sliced chips in a plastic bag and spray a little lite oil on them. I am now considering sprinkling a light dusting of Madras curry powder on them as well prior to cooking. Any one tried this flavouring idea on chips before. They will be accompanied by Cypriot Pastourma grilled sausage which are quite spicy in their own right so I wouldn't use paprika or chilli on the chips in this instance. Any thoughts?

I like chips now and then but partcularly like wedges. Memsahib hates the smell of frying. I told her it's a ruddy kitchen it's meant to smell of cooking. She always insisted I change the oil in the deep fat fryer after almost every use which is very expensive.I capitulated but insisted I get the air fryer. A man has to put his foot down in his kitchen.
That's why I am sneakily having chips tonight. Memsahib is away for the week.:-) Anyhow. Off to the hostelry for my daily three and the crossword. Speak to you later.
Enjoy your afternoon Retro
I sometimes use Garam masala like a seasoning, it doesn't seem to have that raw edge.

However you do them, enjoy.
Spath, I use veg or sunflower oil. Deep fat fryers are not dangerous as they only heat to the temp they are set to.
And this one tastes just like the Chinese takeaway.

What temp do I want to deep fry chicken at?

Does anyone have a batter recipe?
Batter for what?
Far better to deep fry chicken with a boating of seasoned/lightly spiced flour after a marination in buttermilk for a day to tenderise it.
^ a coating, though you could also take it sailing:-)
I haven't had a deep fat fryer for years... at the time though many moons ago, that's all I had. That and a toaster and both were too much effort to clean.
My toaster lives in a cupboard. It does get used but I prefer toast done under the grill.
I quite like my toaster for crumpets and tattie cakes.
Ummm, toasted on one side ;-)
Ruby and jockies? food of the gods mate, remember the Chinese chips? Almost like roasties + Ruby sauce? Orgasmatron after a sesh!
Nah...I usually have cheese on toast. That doesn't work so well in a toaster :-)
Jockeys whips= chips
Ruby Murray = curry
3Ts, love it , lol
Sorry yes.. i don't with to batter the chicken i wish for a crispy skin recepie you know where they mix flour and egg then cover the chicken in it before frying?

Bit like KFC
"Orgasmatron after a sesh!"

Is this guy real? ;)

I kid TTT! It's nice to know ya had a youth.
I used to love Cypriot Pastourma. Went really well with halloumi.

Never thought to use curry powder on chips/wedges. Will try this out.
