However, assuming this to be a genuine question, 'when and where' comes into it for me. At the burger van I sometimes frequent, I'm happy to pay 80p for an instant coffee (even though the proprietor does offer 'real' coffee, from those little plastic pods, for a bit more money). Elsewhere I might be happy to pay perhaps a pound or £1.20 (or even up to £1.50) for an instant coffee.
In smarter environments, where only 'proper' coffee is served, I tend to drink cappuccino (much to the annoyance of my friend who lives in Italy, who insists that cappuccino shouldn't be drunk after breakfast time). I expect to pay 'a bit over £2' (such as £2.30) and don't mind too much when the price gets nearer to £3 (such as £2.80) but I try to avoid establishments where the price exceeds £3.

Hey, Clarion, there can't be many of us - I only had part of a cup at around the age of 16 and after the second sip left the rest. But do you drink tea ? I don't, similar but perhaps not quite so strong an aversion. The interesting thing is that I have three sons, two of whom never drink either and the third only quite rarely. Maybe genetic ? Mind you, I also dislike beer - two of the three drink it, one of them (I believe) very much through peer pressure (here, have one, be a man). The other is in fact an alcoholic, he was brought up at his grandparents' home, his grandfather was a drinker and wife beater.
