Had a walk into M&S yesterday and the amount of food on the shelves that they where trying to get rid of, with reduced tickets on was unbelievable, I've never seen so much in M&S, this was late afternoon, and very few people about, so very little chance of getting rid. There were about sixty turkeys, their top of the range, proper price £55, trying to sell at £12. The other shelves where full of other stuff, that just wasn't moving. How do they get it so wrong? and if this is multiplied over all its stores, what a disgusting waste.

they could donate some to food banks, not sure about the turkeys though, they must have a sell/use by date close to Christmas.
I suppose they have to get enough food in or else people would be complaining all over the festive season that 'Marks had nothing on their shelves this year'. Guess they can't win really. And let's face it, there's a lot of competition these days.

Cheap words Zac to satisfy the public, I don't see any proof.
I wouldn't know where to look for proof. Where would you look. teacake?
I suspected you’d say that. I don’t have any proof either but I suspect you don’t have any proof that they’re NOT doing this. And neither do I.

Posting a comment which criticises a company for wasting food, when you’ve no proof that it is being wasted, is a bit of a waste (pardon the pun) of time.
I'd start in the pudding aisle, Naomi. :-)

12.28 I wouldn't, because there is none, just a PR show.
In the Eaton Centre branch.
I see tea cake has made their mind up, sine probationem.

Proof? just common sense tells me that out of date poultry, fresh cream products, pork/ meat products, party dips of many. just common sense!!
teacake, don't you think it would be a bit dicey for a company like M&S to make false claims? So easily refuted by people who do know where to look - and that would do the company's reputation no good at all.
If you’ve that much common sense, I suggest you refrain from posting unprovable posts which will just end up as a slanging match between your opinions and other people’s.

@12.36 I believe the statement that it goes to create energy to power homes and businesses. But is that what food production is for?
So not wasted then?
Question Author
I'm not slanging Zac, just making an observation in M&S. It may be you that can't prove you posting.
Food is used primarily as a source of energy to power people. Any food not used in this manner can be used to power other things such as homes and businesses.
‘ How do they get it so wrong? and if this is multiplied over all its stores, what a disgusting waste‘

Seems like slanging to me.

Just looking at the evidence in front of me yesterday of greed and waste.
Turkeys freeze wonderfully well.
