I’m looking for the above, and it’s got me wondering what’s the difference between a ‘lemon tray bake’ and a lemon brownie, apart from the chewiness. What makes a brownie different for a chocolate tray bake, in terms of the recipe?

I’ve seen lots of those thanks Sharon, but don’t want to end up with a lemon tray bake, nice as they are. And I’m wondering what makes a brownie, a brownie, and different from a tray bake, if you see what I mean.
I know we have some very good cooks on AB and wondered if they knew.
Have you seen this one?

They are described as chewy and fudgey, which is what brownies should be. The cardinal rule with brownies, is never overbake. They need to be very dense and moist still in the centre...they are not risen like a cake. The shape of the tin may also have something to do with the difference.
Isn't a brownie actually chocolate based? I don't know. I've never made any but Nigella has and there's chocolate in there. How can you have chocolate and lemon?
Tilly, excuse pls Vagus, Vigo on Autumn Watch now. Look at thread as well.
Traditional brownies, yes. Super chocolatey.
Maybe these should be called lemon blondies which are vanilla flavoured brownies. Confused now?
Question Author
I suppose a brownie traditionally is chocolate but there are lots of recipes out there for all kinds/flavours of brownies, indeed Bake off the other week had all sorts, although none were very successful.
That recipe sounds the best so far though Pasta, thanks, that’s the one I’m going to use.
Report back please!
I get my vicarious kicks from others baking, as I don't anymore.

Will do Pasta.
Incidentally, we had another of those one tray recipes from your book recommendation, last night, a salmon one, and very nice it was too. Ive earmarked another three for the coming weeks :)
Lb, I tried but it wouldn't let me watch.
It'll be on player soon.

I made the lemon brownie recipe this morning.
It’s very nice, and very very lemony but nothing like a brownie texture, more like a moist traybake, very cakey and not the least bit chewy or dense.
It did remind me why I don’t like baking though, too much of a faff and too much washing up.
