I always thought table salt was table salt and that there was no difference. I was surprised that Saxa is much saltier than Tesco own.

Has anyone else found this?

It's all very puzzling. I've been using Tesco's own salt for many years but it was substituted for Saxa with the last home delivery order. It looks the same but is definitely saltier.
It may be imperceptibly larger grains.
barry, you're lucky you got salt albeit a different brand. A few months ago somebody ordered basil - they received a DVD of faulty towers.
marks and spencer's sea salt is very nice - you literally only need to sprinkle 3 grains.
3 grains?
try it Ummmm - yep 3 grains. best salt ever.
Vulcan, they must have been faulty DVDs because it's 'Fawlty Towers' :-)
no - - - - - salt is salt

ignore the NT - what happens when salt looseth its zest etc
I'm afraid it's all in the mind barry1010. Salt is salt as PP said. Virtually all culinary salt in the UK comes from the huge Tata owned British Salt Works in Middlewich, Cheshire. It's a sight to behold by anyone who has been on the nearby canal.

vulcan, they must have thought he ordered Salty Towers
Don't believe it, JJ, there's no way you'd even taste 3 grains of salt.
// Table salt is finely ground with impurities removed and an anti-caking agent added. This gives it a smooth, fine texture. Because it is so highly processed, table salt has a slightly weaker flavor than other salts//sic

I don't care whether you believe it or not. It's what I believe
any reason why it would be in the mind, theprof? After all, barry wasn't expecting it to taste different, he was expecting it to taste the same. (Not that I'm offering alternative explanations.)
How do you get exactly three grains from a tub of salt?
They must be very big grains :-)
Depends on the size of the grain - sea salt is pretty coarse in it's natural state.
the grains are as big as your mouth.
