Or as we call our version of it, corned beef hotpot, bubbling away in the oven. Haven’t made it in years but just fancied it this week.
My 5 o’clock tipple today will be a Myrtles Apple Martini...25ml each of vodka, Cointreau and cloudy apple juice, and 5ml of cider vinegar. Not had it before but thought I’d give it a go.

I think that’s where it originates Shirl, but our version comes from my Yorkshire grandma, doesn’t have cheese in it, and uses corned beef instead of bacon.

I couldn't eat it by itself but it disintegrates in the casserole and makes lovely gravy, was always a delicacy with cubed cheddar cheese and salted nuts on the bar on Sunday nights till someone mentioned " see him? He doesn't wash his hands in the gents" that was it, no more of me picking , lol

Haha, it's also 4 years ago that I zip wired from the roof of Saint James's Park dressed in a green polka dot skirt and green tights and a black tee shirt, in a blizzard to raise money for the Newcastle United Foundation for disabled children in sport
