What is your favourite/unusual sandwich/toast toppers?? My sister likes marmalade on toast with unmelted grated cheddar (yuck). I love sandwich spread sandwiches.

There have been lots of threads about favourite sarnies before on AB but I'll throw in the same two that I usually mention on them anyway:

1. At a Norfolk auction room's café, many years ago, I discovered a cream cheese, celery and crunchy peanut butter sandwich. It was gorgeous and remains one of my favourites to this day.

2. In a London sandwich shop, I tried their stilton and mango chutney sandwich and I've had many more since then. (Gorgeous!). Unfortunately though, the sandwich shop in Stowmarket, where I've been buying them for years, has recently closed down :(

There are loads of things I like on toast but one that I discovered recently (in a café on Mersea Island) is Mersea rarebit, which is vintage cheddar cheese melted on top of crab paté. Lovely!

I sometimes have a potato-chip (you call them crisps) and thinly sliced dill-pickle sandwich.

I once mentioned to some mates that if a make a cheese salad sandwich I spread a smear of mustard on it. They looked at me like I was nuts.
Marmite
Years ago I used to take sandwiches to work, the girls would ask me what was on them - Salad, I replied.

They then tried to guess what type of salad, disbelieving that it could only be lettuce, cucumber, tomato etc - they insisted it wasn't a proper sandwich.
