Why not a quarter pounder I hear you ask - well I am allergic to cheese and try as I might I just cannot get McDonalds staff to understand that I want a PLAIN quarterpounder - no cheese - no relish - no sauce - yet every time when I check my order as I am leaving I have to go back and wait for a plain one to be cooked. However if I order two plain hamburgers I get what I want! Even happened at the northern most McDonalds (as it was then) in Rovaniemi in Finland.

I can't lay claim to that. I have one conveniently located between the bus stop and home. When I return from a bite to drink in London I sometimes need the facilities before I make the final schlep to my house. Very nice loos, clean and tidy. Hardly surprising really because nobody ever enters the place. It's a drive through and people either eat the stuff in their cars (do you get tuppence off if you take the stuff away?) or they get an Albanian to deliver it on the back of a motor scooter.
I went to one once many years ago. I wanted a burger with nothing on it (no relish etc.) "You'll have to wait" the unpleasant assistant barked at me me. "No problem. I'm in no hurry." "Stand over there" I was instructed. After I'd waited in the corner for all of 45 seconds a burger, cooked to my individual specifications, was handed to me in a polystyrene box. I took one bite and threw the whole lot in the bin. I regret that to this day as I was quite hungry (why else would I go in there) and if I had thought about my plight I might have tried the polystyrene box. I could have started a whole new fashion. Not been in one since.

I had a Burger King a while ago, as it was the only place I could find in mid-lockdown, and it was awful. I offered it to a hungry-looking tramp, with all the barely cooked fries, and he was happy enough with them; it's true about beggars not being choosers.
In the past I've found McDonald's rather better, though again only if there's nobody else. I used to love Wendy's, though.
