The crap in artificial sweeteners is worse for your health than sugar.

Thanks for all your suggestions.
Have decided to try Ducksie's suggestion of adding my daily apple with a sprinkle of cinnamon and see how that goes. xx
An apple contains the equivalent of two teaspoons of sugar, plus an apple has twice more calories than two teaspoons of sugar.
An apple has fibre, vitamins and doesn't spike blood sugar in the same way that sugar does. An apple is also more satisfying and helps one feel fuller for longer. Sugar is empty calories.
Barry I don't think curlygirlys is suggesting Barsel swallow two teaspoons of sugar instead of eating an apple! The point is to deny yourself a spoon of sugar on your porridge is silly as its relatively low in calories. I had no idea a spoon of brown sugar was only 12 calories -yes I checked!
Porridge should be made with water and sprinkled with salt, nothing else.
When I used to eat porridge I always used muscovado...yum.
I tried loads of different ones and found that having sweetner made me crave sweet foods more - so I just have sugar on my porridge for the few extra calories it takes
Redhelen -sweeteners do make you crave for more sweet things. Its because they trick your body into thinking its going to receive glucose, but of course it doesn't, so the body craves it more.
I only recognised this after the operation and I was horrified how much I craved sweet stuff - since swapping to sugar its not an issue at all.
I would have sugar on my porridge or golden syrup yummmmm I know what I am having for breakfast tomorrow
I bet a drizzle of treacle would be scrummy.
I use skinny syrup from b and m,its 2 calories per serving and fat and carb free.It comes in different flavours and i love it on yoghurts etc. It's been my saviour on my low carb diet and i have lost 5 stone now.https://www.bmstores.co.uk/search?query=skinny%20syrup
I put a large dollop of fruit yoghurt in my porridge and it sweetens it. Only thing is that it does cool it down somewhat but that does not bother me.
Question Author
Which ingredient is used in the skinny syrup instead of sugar?
I understand that things that are 'sugar free' can contain ingredients that have a laxative effect.
Water, Natural Flavour, Salt, Caramel colour, Sucralose Powder, Cellulose Gum, Lactic Acid, Acesulfame Potassium, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate. Yum Yum
I buy either in addition or lidl. A big tub costs less than £1. Lasts ages
Typo Aldi
