It reminds me of an occasion when I took a sandwich to the supervisor at a motorway service station shop and politely pointed out it was past the sell-by date. She didn't thank me, I just got a dirty look.

Afterwards I wished I'd purchased it then got them prosecuted for selling stale goods. They might start listening then.
