Anyone who usually buys a frozen turkey, have you had any difficulty buying one?
I’ve noticed in the couple of supermarkets I’ve been in lately the frozen turkey section is completely empty. It doesn’t bother me as we’re not having turkey but I just wondered if turkeys are scarcer this year for one reason or another.
I've had a frozen turkey in my freezer for a few weeks. I've just checked the Tesco website and they have the full range in stock except the extra extra large
i have also had one for a couple of weeks. davebro, i've had it in there for 2 reasons - 1) i want to spread the costs of Xmas over longer than just decembers wages and 2) i had a 20% off ocado voucher that i used :)
I’ve just been updating my Sainsburys click and collect and see there are many different frozen turkeys showing as available. I hope they’ve had a delivery since yesterday because that same store was completely devoid of anything remotely turkey ish when we were in there.
Maybe it’s a bit hit and miss as to where you live, or maybe some people have bought earlier than they usually would.
We're going to my brother's for Christmas and he always gets given a bronze turkey by a business partner he has a contract with. They give turkeys to all their business partners. Not sure if he'll get one this year with the outbreak of bird flu.
I don't eat turkey anymore so I'm just happy with the meat free trimmings.
I go to Smithfield's to get my turkey a couple of days before Christmas. If it's too dear or they haven't got any, I won't cry, I'll get an alternative. I only really buy it because it's traditional and it's important to my mum.
I reckon there will be plenty to go about. They seemed to get on top of the bird flu thing quite quickly. Though it didn't stop panic buying of eggs in our local Tesco yesterday. I think I can thank the newspapers for that.
