Markets and funfairs only these days I think.

Purchase the doughnut, 5/6 seconds in the microwave .

Most of the traditional hot doughnut stalls at seaside and market locations seem to have disappeared but there might still be openings for traders who want to offer luxury versions (no doubt at very inflated prices!).  e.g. https://www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk/news/24137157.dough-hut-start-selling-doughnuts-norfolk-suffolk/

We went to Dunkin Donuts last time we were in America. They were Dunkin awful! Really, they were. Terrible. The Krispy Kreme donuts are a complete rip off. I think the cheapest price for one is £2.25. We used to get loads of them for free every Saturday morning at break time because one of the girls' sisters worked in the factory just up the estate, on Heywood. A weekly treat, but I definitely wouldn't buy them. Not worth the money.

I distinctly remember eating the 70s in Birmingham city centre, near the market!

I've never had a hot doughnut 😞

what they say is what you never had you never missed!

My nearest town has hot donuts (sic) stalls along the seafront.

Its a mile long and has fish and chips; ice cream and candy floss; hot donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate; burgers and hot dogs; beach toys and gifts; fish and chips; ice cream....repeat!

I prefer the ice cream myself.

Home-made ones are the best 😋 straight out the deep-fryer.

^^^ I'll be going that way soon, Maydup.

I'll meet you there! 🍩

Come to sunny Bedford where the legendary Lina has been selling them from her Dinky Donuts van in the town centre since the 1970s

See you there Chris! And anyone else who'd like to come along to the Great Donut-fest.

They are very popular everywhere in Germany where they are called a Berliner

Which reminds me that when J.F. Kennedy made his famous speech back in the 60s saying to the German people, "Ich bin ein Berliner" he was actually telling them he was a doughnut 😄

I've never had a doughnut (donut?) hot or cold.

Berliners aren't hot doughnuts, are they?  They have icing on top

^^ No they're not hot (unless freshly baked) but neither are they always hot in England. They also don't have icing on them and they are not torus shaped; they don't have the hole in the centre.
