Three weeks now, I hate every hot drink I have. How long before I get used to it, as everyone says I will?

I have to try and tackle not putting sugar on my cereal. That's gonna be a tough one, I think. Tougher than tea and coffee.

I don't put sugar on my porridge, I'm a big tough man

Adding refined sugar to your food is really bad for you. You can wean yourself off it if you want to. Artificial sweeteners just keep you hooked on the sweet flavour. At your age you should be able to exercise control over your appetites. Cutting down gradually is probably the best way to go about it. If you don't care, then carry on as usual.

I will - despite your paronising twaddle!

Like naomi24 my sugar intake was reduced. Though I was unaware that my wife had been cutting it back gradually. Now I hate sugar in drinks hot or cold. Even my cereals are sugar free. We have not had sugar in our house for years.

Andy, try Green Tea or Redbush. Neither require milk or sugar and are a real pick me up, My favourite is Redbush, a lovely drink.

David, what sugar free cereals do you use?

I tried Redbush/Rooibos tea once. I found it to be rather an unpleasant drink. I think it's like marmite. I keep thinking I should try it again...but haven't.

Perhaps you let it seep for too long, Pasta. I leave mine for one minute.

I could do Earl Grey with lemon.

Pasta; I leave my rooibosh bag in the cup as I drink it. But everyone has their own taste. Enjoy.

I still have a teaspoon of sugar on my Weetabix and Porridge.

I'm not a big tough man like Barry.😄

Now that I can manage.

Not ideal, but doable.

But tea and coffee?

Research!

That was supposed to be Yeeech! But of course,  the autocorrect knows what I want to sat better than I do!!

You could try Truvia.  It's passable but none of those sweeteners are terribly good.

Keep on satting, Andy!

When I was in my teens my little sister (much larger than I) wanted to cut out sugar - so I gave up for a few weeks (2/3) and havenever gone back.  Ieven snack on olives!!!

^^^ In other words, a few weeks and, honestly, sugar will turn you off certain foods (cereals etc.).

Try adding the milk of human kindness instead.

Hi Andy, I always use sucralose sweeteners from Aldi, no aftertaste like the saccharin ones. I too tried many times without sugar but hated it.
