Keeping It Simple

We did consider doing a full Sunday roast today but have decided to simplify it to chicken salad wraps. CBA if I'm honest with anything more complicated, especially as I came back to a spotless kitchen and don't want to spoil it (I am a very messy cook). I will have to do some batch cooking later in the week too as it looks like a freezer raid has taken place in my absence.

Can anyone manage to give me food-envy today?

Why not do some curly fries with mayo ?

Saves having all that awful salad items to sling in the bin when it's been left at the side of the plate. And chips are likely to be easier/cheaper than chicken.

I don't actually like curly fries, and mayo with chips is a Cardinal sin!  I do like salad however and they will be in the wraps. You've got to add a bit of crunch such as lettuce.

What are you having today, Old_Geezer?

I've notbeen told.

But it was smoked mackerel and tomatoes for breakfast.

Just prepping my chicken for roasting with garlic, herby & lemon butter being inserted under the skin.

Yes - we're going to the village pub for a full Sunday roast, because I'm involved in organising a talk for this evening, so will be too busy to cook (we eat in the early evening).

That sounds rather nice, -SharonA-.  I might ask the others if they want theirs tarted-up.

Old_Geezer, it does sound like you are being looked after very well indeed.

Sounds like a win-win, jourdain2. I hope you enjoy it.

Out with my parents for lunch shortly.

No idea where but, as Mrs JtH is abroad, it will be somewhere not based on her dietary restrictions.

I am wearing my 'eating trousers' in preparation. 😁

You might as well have what you fancy now and enjoy it before your wife gets home, jackthehat, although I'm sure you'll be glad to have her home when she does get back. I really need some eating trousers.

Baked gammon, mashed potato and savoy cabbage. Mr T's favourite.

Parsley Sauce with that Tills?

Baked Salmon fillets with a soy and ginger(not too much) glaze. Dauphinoise potatoes, peas, broccoli, and runner beans. May do a couple of roasties and a marmalade glazed carrot if I have time as well. Off to the pub for a pint first after a walk on the prom.

Togo, I now have food envy.

Tilly2 - that sounds very nice but I couldn't do Parsley sauce as Togo mentioned. I'd probably do a cider gravy or something.

We had cheese sauce with it.

Ooh yum, haven't done gammon in a long time, just fancy it now, especially with mash and cabbage.

I really don't like wraps, always seems like eating damp dishcloths. I've discovered soft pittas though, they're really nice, Id have chicken salad stuffed into them instead.

I have a thing about wraps just lately - they easy to eat. I lost my appetite a couple of weeks ago in Gran Canaria and to a lesser extent in Poland last week so I've just been surviving on wraps and yoghurts.

I might try some marinated pork belly slices in the air-fryer this weekend.
