How do The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea sort the recycling bins they collect (i mean is it by hand, does it involve magnets, blowing, water etc. or do they just stick it in land fill) ?

Haven't you seen what goes on on Chelsea Bridge at 3am?
This page, on the RBK&C website, explains the basics:
http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/EnvironmentalServices/RubbishRecy clingLitter/wheredoesrecyclego.asp
Note, however, that the link to the Grosvenor Waste website doesn't work. You can watch the series of videos, however, which show exactly what goes on by going here:
http://www.grosvenorwaste.co.uk/Videospace1.asp
(Note that these are Quck Time movies, so you must have Quick Time - or a compatible player - installed to view them. Most people probably already have Quick Time installed but, if not, you can get it as a free download here (if you've got Windows XP or 2000): http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
or here (for earlier versions of Windows):
