Custard Apple

My friend from the UK keeps telling me about a friut in the UK that you can buy called a 'Custard Apple'. I've never seen this fruit in the US. If it exists what's it's name and where can I buy it in Manhattan?

It definitely exists. I had one last night, but I have no idea where you could buy one or what you call it. It is green, sliughtly larger than a normal apple with thicker and slightly "prickly" skin. Inside it has yellow coloured flesh which is soft and sweet, and has a lot of quite large black seeds. I should also mention it is absolutely delicious!
The technical term for Custard Apple is "Annona Reticulata". They are grown in sub-tropical to tropical areas and should be available in NY. There's a fairly good pic at www.custardapple.com.au/info.htm. Bon Apetit
