Banana Flavouring

Everytime i eat or drink anything with banana flavouring in it i get a tickly cough at the back of my throat.. i remember this happening when i used to eat those banana flavoured foam sweets when i was little. anyway ive just bought some banana flavoured milshake and this has happened again. can anyone explain why this is happening? i don't think im allergic to banana flavouring (not had any other symptoms).

Why do you think you are not allergic? I suggest that this is exactly why you react this way - allergies can manifest themselves in a variety of ways - a tickly cough is only one of them.

I get this with bananas, i start coughing and feel as if i need to burp, it can be quite painful!

to the person who says it can be quite painful , i would suggest you should get your potassium checked by a doctor tell them what happens when you eat bananas some conditions your body will not rid itself of potassium , some of these conditions may relate to your kidney function , high potassium buildup in the body can cause your heart to stop. see your doctor . and i hope it is just an alergy
