It's scientific name is... less

I dont think any food will help you lose weight.

The important thing with food intake is that the number of calories in the food you eat should be equal or less than the calories you use during the day.

Some foods are very high in calories (Cakes, Biscuits, Pies, Pasties, rich sauces, sweets, Pizzas and so on) so you should eat few or none of these.

Other foods are low in calories AND good for you (fruit, vegetables, potatoes, pasta, brown bread, low fat meat such as chicken) so you should try to mainly eat these.

On average a woman uses about 2000 calories a day, a man about 2,500 (on average, can vary of course) so you should try to eat only these many calories each day (or less if trying to lose weight).

A mars bar is about 250 calories, a "Big Mac" meal with milk shake is probably about 1,000 calories, so although you can eat these they should be seen as a treat (once a week at most) and not a regular thing.

If you can cut fast food out your diet completely that is a good thing as they are also high in suger, salt and other "bad" things.

Dont try a fancy diet, just change your eatijng habits so you eat better food and you will gradually lose weight. It may only be a pound or two in weight a week, but over time it will mount up.

Good luck

When you are wanting to lose weight - you're best friend is WATER - 2 litres or more a day - if you can stand it ! GOOD LUCK
Celery - you burn more energy eating it than you get from it, so while it's useless as a staple food, as a snack when you are watching what you eat, you can't beat it.

I will tell you the most helpful food I find when trying to lose weight - and this might surprise you .. but it is the good old digestive biscuit. Because there are not that many calories in them and I find that one mid morning and one either mid afternoon or late evening, just helps me through when I am hungry. I always take some with me in my bag when I go on a train or something so I don't get tempted when I am hungry to buy rubbish.
Apples are good as substain long acting glucose levels, also Porridge, has been looked into as a good food and again maintains glucose levels, agree about the digestive biscuits as well,
What i did was just eat loads of fruit and drink loads of water and the weight dropped off. i lost about 6Ib in a week
apparently (and this is according to a nutritionalist not me) Grapefruit has some properties that aid weight loss.

I find that high protein foods like cottage cheese keep me really full when i could eat double there weight in junk and not be

Also salsa is really useful, i cook just about everything in salsa (stif frys, veggies etc) and its really low calorie

OOOHHH how could i forget, and where would one be, without sugar free jelly. 2 servings of sugar free jelly plus 2 tsp of splenda plus 2 ice cream wafers = 30 calories...great snack
