I should have added that where I live a Large fish is known as a special, the cost of "ordinary" sizes F&C is about �3.20

PS For some excellent fish and chips try Central Fish shop in Aberystwyth, you can then walk to the prom and eat them in style feeding seagulls in the process, this is the way they're meant to be eaten!

Fish and Chips at Birmingham Stratford Road can get a large portion for �3.00

Fish and Chips at Kingston-Upon Thames can get a large portion for �4.50

Best fish and chips I have tasted are both places in Birmingham one on The Broadway called 'Broadways'. Second place is on Lozells Road calles 'Saqibs'.

Not only fish and chips everything at these two shops is really, really nice.

If you from Birmingham then try them out. Both not far from the Aston Villa Ground.

Until January, the chip shop around the corner had a special offer (take away only) of �1.99 for Haddock & chips.

Sadly they have stopped this now since a refurb - current cost about �3.80.

(Great Yrmouth) and the offer was for most of last year outside of tourist season.

Having said that the best fish and chips I have ever eaten,plaice and chips was in Hastings ..it was so delicious I had seconds. Aaaw ...those were the days !!

In New Zealand for a piece of battered fish and a scoop of chips you pay about �1.20 - �2.00, or $3.50-5.00 NZ dollars.

And it tastes so much better there :)
