I also like the 'Rose and Lemon' variety you normally find this time of year, the sort covered in icing sugar. Yum! I don't think I've ever tried the genuine stuff but I'll heed Cetti's comments and avoid it!
Oddly enough, flirty, the most popular flavours for the genuine article are Rose and Lemon.....and they are covered in icing sugar. Proper lokum (the Turkish word for it...!) is more chewy, and strangely enough less sweet than our version - I say strangely because the Turks have the most incredible sweet tooth. But the best has got to be pistachio - to die for!
The trick with TD is to get it as fresh as possible and buy the small clear stuff.....for some reason, they've started selling some disgusting type recently over there, which is like tough marshmallow coated in coconut....yuk!
