For flirty41 - was it a Sherbet Fountain? You had to bite the ends off the stick of liquorice but even then the sherbet blocked it up and you couldn't suck it all up. (Made by Bassett's?) Is it my ageing brain or were Toffos originally called Toffo Deluxe (no offence will be taken if you think I'm barmy). Also, walnut whips are still going strong (my wife never eats the walnut which I love) and she has just brought me a bag of soor plums from New Lanark. By the way, anybody else tried Jellyatrics?

Sherbet Dip my A-r-s-e. Gef was correct; Bassett Sherbet Fountain (looked a bit like a firework, always made you cough. Why did we call it kaylie?? :-)
What a succesful thread, maybe it will get in the top 10. (We haven't done ice lollies or snacks yet... What about those 'Iced Gems'? (tiny biscuits with a hard candy doodad on top.)
Gef is right, it was definitely called sherbert fountain and was made by Bassets. I loved Pink Panther Bars, and toffos, I loved the way they had the imprint of the paper wrapping on them.

Nutty bars, yeah, loved them, and was Spanish Gold that pretend baccy that you used to get??? If not, what was that called?

And just one last thing, does anyone remember which product was advertised by this song? "There's a new sound sweeping the nation, It comes from the box with a sweet sensation...." In every box there was a little prezzie, but there had to be coz the sweetie was cack!

What happened to the Fry's choc cream type bar that had 5 different flavours in it? I think they were lime, strawberry, orange, pineapple and .....
oh aye, that's right, fountain!!
Lucky Potatoes? Cinammon flavour brown things with a wee plastic toy in middle, designed to choke unsuspecting toddlers. I think they replaced toy with a wee paper joke (like a fortune cookie), haven't seen them at all lately.
Joke metnions Cabana bars, where they those things with pineapple and other "tropical" flavours?
Spangles?
What about Double Dips? It was 2 different types of sherbit in a packet. The sherbets were divided, one of pink and was strawberry and the other was orange and yip you guessed it it was orange flavour. It had an edible dipping stick too.
Sorry to annoy you xyzzyplugh (??? - how did you derive that name?) but Fab and Zoom lollies are still available from Tesco's - in the summer only, of course!

spangles (though didn't they make a comeback?) bullseyes and jap subs (i think they're not allowed to call them that nowadays in our modern perlitically correct society)
Double Dips still available with their candy stick; trick is not to eat the stick until the sherbert is done!
Someone mentioned Spangles - how could I forget them? Available in several flavours including "fruit, acid drop and Old English". Any more flavours remembered? Also several different flavours of Polos.
xyzzy, you can still get Iced Gems (and there's a chocolate topped version too!), and the double dips are still around too Wee Kaz! Thanks xyzzy for bringing back all the childhood memories (AND I remember the toffee-centred ice creams - yum!!).
Hmmmm! Pacers!
Some of the deleted ones that I can remember:- Skippy Bars, Clarnico Peppermint Creams, Paynes Poppets/Toffets, Frys Five Centres, Cadbury's Neopolitans, Strawberry Truffles and Jubblies!
Dsg, I am sitting with a packet of raisin peoppets at this very moment. You can still get these, along with mint and toffee. www.poppets.com
Dsg; do you mean the juice cups we used to freeze?! Jubilee or Jubblie? On holiday in Spain last year my lilo was made out of what looked like the very same cartons, even down to the ridges.
Sweet cigarettes which were politcally correctly changed to candy sticks, but havnt seen them around for a while. And King's Oddfellows, those pink and yellow round hard thingy's. Again another politically incorrect name !! The Penny Bubbly, so big you had to chew for 5 minutes to soften it before you could talk again. (or am I really giving my age away?)
what about that chewing gum that tasted like germoline? think you called it double bubble......
does anyone remember sugar alley water, and how did you make it?
