Is there anything you have enjoyed eating abroad and you wish was available in Britain but isn't ? At the moment I'm thinking of 'cream style' corn which used to be sold in Safeways and Tesco but no more. This is an American thing which, unlike lots of other food (think of burgers, etc.), appears not to have caught on in the UK. Another example is the American salad dressing/cream called Miracle Whip, made by Kraft - you find it easily in Germany but not in the UK because Kraft withdrew it from the market here a couple of decades ago.

When I used to travel to Austria, I used to have spicy meatballs/faggoty things called Faschierte Leoben(sp). Used to get them from the roadside cafes (called an Imbiss). Great with mash or chips.
I lived in France for a long time and used to love "Uncle Ben's" taboule (or tabouli), I've never seen it in this country, it was lovely!
Tomatoes that taste like tomatoes. They're really common in France, but here we have to put up tomatoes that are a lovely red colour, but which taste like cotton wool.
In Holland "Vla" is a thick custard sauce (with genetically modified corn starch in it ARGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!) which is really nice. Not too sweet. I've never seen it here. Perhaps due to the GM hysteria. In Spain the supermarkets have vanilla and chocolate desserts (my kids call it "goob") made by Yoplait I think which you can't get here. Again, it's nice because its not too sweet.
Hotdogs from German street vendors, where the hotdog is in fact meat! btw. you can buy cream style corn in Chinese Supermarkets (if you can get to one)
Maybe its a holiday thing but stuff I've had on holiday never tastes the same when I try it at home Apple tea like they have in Turkey did'nt have the same appeal in the bleak midwinter and the gorgeous Mozzarella and Tomatoe rolls I had in Italy just could'nt be recreated
Reece's Peanut Butter Cups from the States. They defy words !!
kokanee beer from canada. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Reese's peanut cups and alot of other American candy can be bought from the American candy shop at the Bluewater mall in Kent. (Don't ask me the name and its really small but packed with yummy things)

I still wish there was somewhere to get hold of Miracle Whip in the UK though...  anyone got any ideas ?

As i cant keep flying to america for kraft miracle whip i thought i would share with you all a website i use in the uk where you can buy it.( When they arent out of stock that is) It is www.cybercandy.co.uk   I hope this helps.

Wow, a question posted close to two years ago still attracts answers. And, double wow, an answer which actually provides a solution to the problem originally described - and echoed by others as bothered as I was by it. AB really works well at times, doesn't it - well done to the creators of this site.
