Is there a national shortage of sesame seeds?

My wife seems unable to find any in any of the main supermarkets at the moment. Why is this?

Try the Green Valley Middle-Eastern supermarket just off the Edgware Road in London.
Supermarkets aren't very good at stocking "specialist" foods at the best of times! I don't think there is a shortage, but supermarkets only stock what they think enough people want for them to make a profit. If you want sesame seeds, try a health food shop. Holland and Barrett stock most things like that.
