A Japanese friend is holidaying in London and I've asked her to my house for dinner next week.

After trying to think of something to cook, I've come with something seasonal and british - asparagus with new potatoes.

Does anyone have any recipes? As simple and quick to prepare as possible as I'll be spending the day with her in London, so won't have a long time to prepare the food.

Hmm, and I think we'll have strawberries for desert!

Prep the night before. Serve wiith warm, crusty proper bread.

And make sure the s strawberries are British!! Serve them with a lightly whipped double cream with a dash of kirsch and a mint srpig on the side, and brandy snap biscuits add crunch as well.

how about some salmon, get the filletd, skinless stuff, just put it in some foil with salt pepper and lemon juice and pop it into the oven, perfect with asparagus and new potatoes, all that is needed is a knob of butter

Thanks for your ideas, nickmo and curlyfilm. It's only 9.15am and my mouth is watering!

Do you know what the recipe means by 1c of Vegetable Oil? Maybe I'm being a bit dim, but I don't recognise that measure.

Of course, British strawberries! I wouldn't serve anything less! I love this time of year when the strawberries and asparagus come into season. I can't stand it when I see people eating strawberries in winter. It's so wrong!!!

Hi K - 1c is one cup, (recipe is off a US site) but adjust the quantities to suit your tastes if you feel that it is too much for the quantity you will be making.

And darn right about imported s/berries...

Have a peachy weekend!
