Is there anyway to make a cigar fresh once it has dried up?

my mate used to keep a piece of lemon peel in with his rolling tobacco to keep it fresh

Put a small potatoe skin in the box.

both of which employ osmosis to equalise moisture content; oppositely, you can get a silica-something insert to stop biscuits going soft :-)
