all bran v potatoes

The all bran add on tv says you need to eat 9 poatoes to get as much fibre as a bowl of all bran. Is there anything wrong with eating 9 potatoes then? I would rather eat potatoes than all bran.

Depends what size the spuds are!! Nine Jersey mids might be easy - but not nine large Edwards! (Not in one sitting anyhow - which is probably what they're getting at).
I agree the potato is a terrific food, in more ways than one. All-Bran is ok with some fruit and/or nuts - the great british potato can be eaten on its own! (cooked first tho lol).

If you look at the packet of All Bran and see how much additive there is ..eg sugar etc ...you are far better off eating those nine spuds.
It is vile stuff which just fills you up and eating it regularly will have you sitting on the loo all day.
This is very interesting..scroll down to "Conclusion"

I suffer with IBS and my GP told that you can overload on fibre and that these things such as All Bran etc are just a gimmick.Your "five a day " should provide all the fibre you need.
