Food Portion Control
3 Answers
I was just wondering how to control my food portions as I tend to over eat. Although I'm not fat (5'8 and 9.8st), I realise my portion control seems to be much bigger than most people! In fact, my oriental relatives say I eat like a man! Hahahaha!
In many books and mags, I've read that a normal portioned meal should consist of a piece of meat being the size of a palm and 1" thick, one tea cup of veg and one tea cup of potatoes. When I measured out pasta, I was horrified at how little it was (no wonder people lose weight on these diets!) Compared to these portions, I must eat about 3 times more than I should!
Or is it simply because I'm greedy? XXX

I'd say that its all gone to my tummy and waist and I feel a bit blue about the whole thing. I guess excercise is the only way to sort this out and be able to eat as much as i want. Problem is I can't afford the gym and I haven't done any type of excercise since school, 15yrs ago!

The most important thing is that youre happy with what youre eating and the effect it is having on your body and it sounds like at the moment you are not. Technically you are a healthy weight, but your weight gain since Xmas cannot be sustained. Rather than worry about what a portion size should be, just try having a bit less than you would normally do. Or try the old trick of serving less food on a smaller plate. You should worry as much about what you eat as how much.
