Hi eartha - kobe or wagyu is hideously expensive beef originally from Kobe in Japan where they massage the animal to improve the texture and flavour of the meat and use a specialised diet and feeding.
It got known as some places were flogging 30 burgers in the US and also a few silly people were buying 80 sandwiches made from it. It is a good meat, but you decide if its worth more than decent 21 or 28 day hung and properly handled British beef cuts.
Couple of farms in UK now breed kobe beef and sell it, such as Lucies in Worcester.
There is a poultry equivalent too, which is really about an old breed rather than than a pampered chicken, and some breeders try and tell you pork such as Berkshire is also in the same vein.
