is there a specific name for the ice cream that is squirted out from dispensers onto a wafer cone in ice cream vans- and why isn't it avilable in shops and supermarkets?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ....the machines do take hours to clean and steralize, and the regulations are very strict as soft icecream is prone to salmonela, and lystiria so be very careful where you buy it from, as I know the icecream vans are easier to dodge the health inspectors!.... I bought a home icecream machine a couple of years back, this makes very similar icecream as it's churned and you can stop it at your prefered consistancy....
