Cut swissroll into slices and put in bottom of deep glass dish or similar, Drain strawberries, keep juice and mix with sherry, soak swissroll - not too soggy. Lay strawberries on top then sliced bananas. Pour custard over (I tend to make it - if you do , not too thick and let it cool first). Whip double cream to soft peaks - pour on and top with crushed flake. Simple but Mmmm have a go Skylight

My version is virtually the same except I leave out the sherry (just personal choice as I'm not keen on the taste) and make a jelly to pour over the swiss roll and fruit. I use a mixture of drained tins of mandarin segments and fruit cocktail in fruit juice, using the juice to make the jelly. Then top with custard and cream.
Rum & Orange Trifle always goes down well with our family & friends. Break 4 trifle sponges into bottom of trifle dish. Put a handful of raisins on top then a handful of dessicated coconut. Pour over 1-2 eggcupsful of fresh orange juice and same amount of rum. Leave to soak. (I leave mine overnight). Put 2 tins of Mandarins on top then make a custard and put on top of that. Finish off with a layer of whipped fresh cream. Decorate with grated chocolate and a few mandarins. Enjoy.
There's a black forest triflle recipe, that uses chocolate cake and cherries in the bottom, soaked in the juice from the fruit (or perhaps a bit of Kirsch if you like it). The custard is replaced by chocolate flavoured table cream (they sell it in boxes) and topped with whipped double cream, garnished with crushed Flake. It's lovely!
