Beetroot - laxative qualities?

Is it just my digestive system or is beetroot renowned for its laxitive qualities ?

don't know if it's renowned for it, but it has the same effect on me as it obviously does on you! I find home grown acts worse than shop bought. Doesn't stop me eating it, though. Yum!
Any meal with a high magnesium content - like beets - will have a mild laxative effect.........you may get the same result from sesame seeds by the way, as well as pumpkin seeds, pine kernels, broccoli and carrot, for example. A salad of these could be interesting for you.........

Lack of magnesium is identified with colon problems by the way.

We grow our own and I like nothing better than warm beetroot on bread and butter but like you next day I suffer
