If you can get there - go to Thorntons - the best. If not the M & S chocolate catepillar cake is fab - thick chocolate and wonderful too!!
i agree M&S caterpillar cake is the best - my sis did get one with sweets on it from Marks but it was a bit sickly. i am also guessing anything with the word cadbury on it will mean good ha ha :-)
Personally, my family all love the Tesco iced ones with the jam and cream - so we always get them for each others birthday!

I just saw a big chocolate birthday cake in Tesco but I wondered how tasty it was and if it was going to be dry and disappointing on the day
Another vote for the M&S choccie caterpillar cake - had one on my last Birthday.

Their long birthday cakes with squares on them are really good too!
The best one is a Marks and Spencer one, not the caterpillar (although that is good!), it's just a round one, it has happy birthday written on it and and 3 big stars of milk, plain and white chocolate sticking on the top, plus loads of chocolate curls, all covered in chocolate ganache, MMM it's SO GOOD!
Asda do a lovely chocolate cake in two sizes. It's very moist and has 'Happy Birthday' written in white chocolate and white choc stars on it. I've bought it many times and everyone says how nice it is.
i turned nearly 40 last week and my OH bought the yummiest choccie cake from Sainsburys
Its all gone now "sigh"
i agree with the others, M&S is delicious. they also make a fabulous christmas pudding.
Why not make one yourself? I make my own for my birthday and am always complimented on them. It's just a basic 4 eggs/8ozsugar/8oz butter/7oz flour/1oz cocoa sponge with a vanilla buttercream filling and a melted chocolate topping (which oozes down the sides) decorated with Smarties or M&Ms or a Flake or Maltesers and served on its own or with really good vanilla ice-cream.

BigMac, I'm a bit lazy although I'm sure it tastes fab, I take the easy option every time...
books bigmac to bake her next birthday cake

We got a chocolate cake from Tesco for my eldest daughter's 18th, and got to admit it wasn't the best, so be careful if you get that. It had white chocolate flowers on it.

Will stick to the Asda ones from now on (unless I REALLY can book bigmac!) the last one I bought there was a Winnie the Pooh one for my babies 1st birthday- I'm ashamed to say I ate most of it.
Tesco chocolate traybake it is divine!!!
