Having spent a couple of weeks in Cork, I can say without doubt that Guiness does have a very slight edge to the drink available in the UK. Is it better? no not realy.
I disagree, I went to Sligo last year and the Guinness there tasted beautiful! Not watery and limp like in the UK. It was full bodied and creamy and not so bitter as i find it is in Britain, I am about to depart to go to Athlone as being a professional singer am entering a singing competition beg of october, so I shall be sampling the guiness too ! I will let you know my findings.
Is draught Giuness still brewed in the UK?
The London brewery closed yrs ago.
Was in Kerry and Clare a few months ago and the Guiness was excellent in all the pubs I visited. I agree it tasted a little different and, to me better, than a UK pint. Maybe it doesn't like being sloshed about whilst crossing the Irish Sea, I didn't.
Nowhere sold the extra cold guiness that is available in the UK :)
Guiness is only brewed in Dublin and Nigeria
Therefore, the guiness you drink in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland or Azerbaijan is the same. The only difference is how it's kept and served.
Nigerian Guiness has a distinctively different taste apparently.
Guinness was produced in London, until 2005, since when all of it has been brewed in Dublin. As it's a pasteurised (keg) beer, though, it doesn't make much difference to a real ale drinker, where it's brewed. In fact, the only live Guinness, that I know of, is 'Guinness Export', which sold in Ireland, but not in Britain. This seems to be at odds with the description of being an export beer.
