Steaming vegetables

Is it true that steaming vegetables releases more nutritional goodness? How long should i steam the following to derive optimum nutrient content:

Peppers
Chillis
Spring onions
Tomatoes

It is true as long as it takes to cook them using a microwave is the same also
Eat them raw.
Those I would stir fry - courgette, carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, mange tout, beans, brussels, cabbage etc I would steam between 2 & 4 mins depending on the veg and how you like them. Brussels and carrots would take longer than broccoli or cabbage and so on. You would have to experiment to see how you like them.
Those are odd things to want to steam.
