I'm going to do fish cakes tonight....50/50 mashed potato/coley mixed together with breadcrumbs on the outside and shallow fried.

Anyone add anything to them to jazz them up a bit.

Chopped parsley and one of those boursin soft cheeses mixed with the mash. Mmm. Can I come to yours for tea?
ooh what about the small capers, chopped in half. Perfect compliment to fish..
You could do Thai fishcakes with the addition of red curry paste, fish sauce, etc.

I once made some fishcakes adding in some leftover frozen peas, slightly crushed with a fork - I wouldn't say it jazzed them up, but they were quite nice.
some springonions
some chopped red chilli, spring onions, parsley, lemon juice and a little bit of cream

Fantastic stuff. I've just made some plain ones...rolled in my own breadcrumbs and my daughter is tucking into them so they must be ok.

This is my first try at fishcakes. The remaining 6 cakes will have various ingredients added and i shall cook them so they're ready when my good lady wife returns from work at 9.30
Lucky woman!
