This question may seem silly but do only cats and dogs taste test the tinned food? Would it ever be deemed edible and tasty by a humans palate as I've read some rather alarming things about the ingredients to these foods, so why should it be suitable for a pet if it's contents is beyond comprehension . No ! I'm not going to try it.
I saw a programme once where they put to the test someone whos job was as a dog food taster! They got him to taste differnent dog foods, i.e. a cheap one, a midrange one, and a luxury one. He got them right! I think it was real but you know that these things could have been set up for the gullible!! ;-)
When Pet Foods first introduced canned cat food ( I think 'Kit-E-Kat' was their first product) I understand that the salesmen used to open a can in the shops and eat some to prove to the shopkeeper how good and safe the product was.
Are there any Pet Foods salesmen still out here who can verify?
Dear "Pippa68"
The report I read was on a website:- www.preciouspets.org
Admittedly it could of been a ploy to sell their own wares stating how good their own products were but aside from that, if it was true-it revealed quite disturbing facts about the ingredients of some well known tinned dog and cat food brands.
It certainly didn't sound very appetising to me.
I guess the canned food should be safe to eat as it will have been sterilised in the process. And would surely be safer than the many eating places shown on TV programmes when Health Inspectors make their visits and find rats, mice and filthy kitchens.
