Can i freeze home made rice pudding???
2 Answers
looking for a quick responce to this one, Ive been cooking like mad for a couple of days as im going into hospital tomorow to have a baby and ive been trying to make life easier for my husband as he will be looking after my wee girl by himself whilst im in hospital. i made rice pudding yesterday using milk, cream, vanilla pod and funnily enough pudding rice!!! i have it chilled in the fridge as i know it will keep for a bit safe enough, but was wondering can i freeze it then use it??? and if i can how would you recommend i defrost it i.e at room temp, in the micro wave or in a pot on the cooker, also do you think it would be ok to eat at room temp (my fav) both my hubby and wee girl eat it hot. I know you have to be careful about bacteria and the like so again any replies would be great.

Firstly, how did things go?!!!
Secondly - freezing rice pudding. I don't think I'd recommend it.
It would go quite mushy when you defrost it. It would be safe to eat, but wouldn't have as much texture. You'd want to reheat it thoroughly before eating, rather than just leaving to get to room temperature.
It does keep for about 4 days in the fridge, though.
Hope everything went well for you.
